Social Media has changed the way people give.  As nonprofit marketers, this has more than just holiday implications for us, but has become a year-round focus.  Check out this great article by Shaun King, founder of HopeMob, who says new avenues for generosity are changing.  How and when people donate time and money includes moving away from giving to anonymous charities and moving towards giving directly to people in need.

When asked why giving time is different than giving money, King replied, “Both are crucial. At all times we should each be willing to give one or the other or both to people in need. The truth is, though, that sometimes a cause needs boots on the ground more than it does money and other times a cause needs money to pour in more than anything else. Truly charitable people figure out a way to give both and smart charities figure out ways to ask for both.”
