SEO Benefits & FAQs

How Does SEO work?

SEO can be broken down into two separate categories: Search Engine Indexing and User Experience. Both of these factors must be considered when fully optimizing your website.

1. Search Engine Indexing

When a search engine is able to properly crawl and index a website it can then place that site higher up in search results that it deems relevant to what a user types into a search query. If a website shows up higher in a search result, users are more likely to click on it.

2. User Experience

SEO also improves the user experience and usability of a website. By optimizing the content of a website and making it easy to navigate, this allows users to have a positive experience which ultimately means they will be more likely to visit the website again. If users continue to come back to a website and engage with it then search engines take note of this and start to promote it more in search results.

Consequently, if a website is poorly structured and gives users a negative experience, search engines are going to penalize that site by promoting it less than similar sites that retain users more. Inability to retain users causes search engines to assume that either the website content is not relevant to the users or the site is just has a bad user experience.

Top 3  SEO Benefits

1. Long Term Solution

SEO takes more work up front but it is a long term solution to driving traffic and business to your website. Even if you currently use PPC advertising to drive traffic to your site you will still need to have good SEO implemented to help with the longevity of your efforts.

2. Search Engines like SEO

Good SEO practices allows search engines to index your website easier and get that information to relevant users. When a search engine likes working with your website it will promote it more in search results.

3. People like SEO

You might not be aware of it, but people love SEO. Good SEO makes a website easier to find & easier to interact with. If people have a positive experience finding the information they need on your site then they are much more likely to come back to the website and more likely to tell others about it.

SEO Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How long does it take to see results?

SEO is a process, not an instant fix so it can take anywhere from 4 – 8 weeks to start seeing results and about 3 months to get a good grasp on how well it is working. This is why we require at least a 3-month retainer for any SEO work.

2. Why does it take so long to see results?

Search engines do not crawl and index websites everyday. Depending on how popular your website is it can take up to a month or longer for a search engine to re-index your site and make note of all the changes made. Even after your website is indexed it can take several weeks or even months more until enough data is gathered to determine if your site is properly optimized; i.e. do users have a positive experience on your site more often than other sites with similar content. Once a search engine gathers enough data it will then start to place your website higher up in a search result.

3. Do you have a one-month or month-to-month contract instead of a monthly retainer?

Unfortunately we do not do one month or month-to-month contracts because it usually takes about 3 months to see the best results. A 3-month retainer gives us enough time to help optimize your website correctly and give you the best results.

4. If I do 3 months of SEO will my website be fully optimized?

It is unlikely that your website will be fully optimized after 3 months because SEO is a process not a one-time fix. You never really reach a point when you are done with SEO. However, three months will create a good solid foundation that will help out tremendously with getting more traffic to your website and also set you up for success in the future.

5. Can you get my website to show 1st in a search result?

Unfortunately no. No one can guarantee that your site will be listed first because only a search engine has the power to place your website where it thinks it should be. If someone is promising that then they are either trying to scam you or they are using “Black Hat” techniques, basically cheating the system by giving you instant results but ultimately affecting the credibility of your site and possible getting your website banned.
